12. Looper
Sci-fi trailers are perhaps one of the hardest to cut, because when they create a world like Looper, it’s difficult to introduce the world, its characters, and the story in the space of ninety to a hundred and twenty seconds.
The first trailer for Looper, however, is exceptional. It opens with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s brilliant voiceover, wasting no time in setting up the premise of the film, and wasting no time in teasing us with the action and science fiction in store for us.
We also get a good look at Gordon-Levitt and the prosthetics used to make him look like Bruce Willis, which look brilliant just before the 1-minute mark. One of the best trailers of the year for one of the best films of the year, deserving of every bit of the $160m.+ it’s taken at the box office.
