6. The Great Gatsby
As first trailers go, The Great Gatsby has been by far one of the best of the year. I don’t think anyone saw it coming quite like this – a beautiful display of visuals was always going to be on the cards with Baz Luhrmann behind the camera, but who could have foreseen the mix of Kanye West and Jay-Z’s No Church in the Wild and Jack White’s cover of Love is Blindness?
Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance as the eponymous Gatsby is one of the most anticipated of next year, with Luhrmann’s adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s seminal novel understandably promising to be a highlight of 2013.
We may have to wait a little while longer for its release, pushed back by Warner Bros. to give it a Summer release next year rather than a Winter release this year, but you know it’s going to be worth the wait. And Gatsby in the summer does have a very nice feel to it.
