16. New Mutants
The New Mutants are a group of young heroes, and were first introduced as an independent team led by Cable which was later re-branded as X-Force. The second iteration actually operated as part of Charles Xavier’s school, but either version would work on the big screen.
The original team consisted of Cannonball, Karma, Mirage, Sunspot, and Wolfsbane, and these are the types of characters who are unlikely to ever be given a prominent role in an X-Men movie. Of course, Sunspot actually made a brief appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but a New Mutants movie just leaves an awful lot more room for popular characters such as these (not to mention later members like Boom-Boom, Domino and Shatterstar) to be fully explored on the big screen.
