4. The Wire
The Wire is without a doubt one of the greatest TV shows of all-time, so an argument could be made that it’s best to leave the series alone rather than risk tarnishing it. However, there’s no doubt that it ended in a way which left the door open for some sort of continuation, and picking up with these characters six or seven years later definitely has an appeal.
The world has changed a lot since then, as has Baltimore and the criminals pursued by the characters we all came to know during the course of The Wire’s five season run. Getting to see this would be fascinating, as would catching up with Jimmy McNulty and the rest. As long as they could find a way of picking up some of the threads from the TV series and making it new viewer friendly, a movie based on The Wire could be something very special, even if it isn’t entirely essential.
