6. The Shield
Though the series may have come to an end back in 2008, talk of some sort of big screen continuation to The Shield has never stopped.
The premise of the movie is really smart as it wouldn’t simply be fan service by bringing back a bunch of familiar faces in a forced situation. Instead, creator Shawn Ryan’s idea would be to introduce a young cop to the drug gang culture of Los Angeles as we see him become frustrated with his inability to make any real sort of difference. “He becomes obsessed with the idea of bringing some justice to the situation,” Ryan was quoted as saying last year. “He then starts hearing whispers of somebody who used to be a cop and might be of service to him.
And that’s Vic Mackey.” What a fascinating concept, and what a clever way to introduce new viewers to this world while also keeping longtime fans happy.
