1. “What a Bunch of A-Holes”
If you were curious about the tone of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the whole trailer gives us a great idea as to what to expect, but the final few seconds in particular really highlight this film as perhaps Marvel Studios’ most unique movie yet.
Humour will obviously play a big role in Guardians (as it has done in all Marvel Studios movies since Avengers Assemble), but you need only look at the rest of this list to see that there should be enough drama and focus on characters to ensure that this isn’t just a comedy set in space. Like Joss Whedon, Gunn is an expert at finding the right balance of in terms of tone (see: Super), so there’s really nothing to worry about. Interestingly, he recently revealed that he thought up the line above on the day of shooting, but the reaction to it now means that it will likely be one of the most quoted moments in what is sure to be Marvel’s most quotable movie.
