2. Rocket Raccoon & Groot
It’s not in the least bit unfair to assume that Marvel are already gleefully patting themselves on the back about the huge amount of money they can look forward to making from Rocket Raccoon and Groot merchandise this summer. It’s interesting then that neither character gets a chance to speak in this first look footage despite the fact that both Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel are said to have already recorded the majority of their lines.
Of course, we also don’t hear from Zoe Saldana’s Gamora or Dave Bautista’s Drax, as Marvel have instead – sensibly – decided to focus on Star-Lord for now. They even offer a tongue in cheek reference to the fact that the lead protagonist is a little known character in the opening few seconds of the trailer, but hopefully the next look we get at Guardians of the Galaxy will indeed see the spotlight shine on the duo above and the rest of the team.
