4. A Glimpse at Ronan the Accuser
We’ve talked a lot about Thanos in this feature, but he won’t actually be the main villain in Guardians of the Galaxy. That title instead belongs to Lee Pace’s Ronan the Accuser, a character who was originally introduced as a villain but is now viewed as a far more noble and heroic character in the comics.
It’s possible then that Marvel Studios have perhaps turned to the Ultimate Universe for inspiration when it comes to this take on the villain, as that version was depicted as the loyal son of Thanos. The shot above is the only glimpse we get of Ronan in this trailer, but you can tell it’s him by his iconic hammer known as the “Universal Weapon”; a device which uses cosmic energy for a variety of effects including teleportation and disintegration. It must come in handy as it’s clear that he has no trouble dealing with the extremely powerful Drax the Destroyer in the movie!
