We know that Peter Capaldi won’t come into the show permanently just yet – that honour is being reserved for the Christmas special – but his casting has been secured for months now. You can’t tell us that there hasn’t been a chance to film a sneaky cameo of the actor for this special episode.
Besides, the last time we saw the Doctor and Clara, they were drifting through the Doctor’s own timeline, encountering all of his incarnations. For all of the times that the show has explored one Doctor meeting another, how cool would it be to – for the first time ever – showcase a future incarnation ahead of time?
