8. The return of the Time Lords
While we’re on the subject, those new Whovians (Newvians?) may be surprised to learn that the Doctor wasn’t always wandering all of time and space as the last of his kind. The Time Lords frequently showed up in classic episodes of Doctor Who, usually to disapprove of the Doctor’s methods and occasionally send him on less-than-merry missions.
With the Time War time-locked, and the Time Lords unable to escape their demise, will this 50th Anniversary episode see the Doctor provide a key to unlock the event, finally freeing the rest of his species? This could certainly be one way in which, as showrunner Steven Moffat has promised, “the narrative of Doctor Who will be forever changed”.
