5. Venom: The Hunger

This four part series introduced a new wrinkle to the Venom symbiote, revealing that it had a reliance on phenethylamine for survival. After depleting Eddie Brock’s supply (which would later result in him suffering from cancer), the symbiote developed a taste for human brains in order to replenish the chemical. When its host refused, Venom abandoned him, leaving Eddie to be caught and locked in an insane asylum. After managing to escape, he hunts down the alien suit – which has now gone on a killing/brain eating spree – but it is stolen by his deranged doctor from the asylum. Eddie does ultimately regain the symbiote, and this could serve as a good basis for the movie to follow if it were to skip the origin story and pick up with an already established version of the iconic villain.
