4. Constantine
You may remember Constantine from the 2005 movie of the same name starring Keanu Reeves, but this TV series looks set to finally do the fan favourite comic book character justice. Welsh actor Matt Ryan takes on the role of the seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult who abandoned his campaign against evil after failing to save a young girl’s soul from hell, and early word on the pilot is very good.
There are very few horror shows on television right now, but a Constantine series from the network responsible for the violent and brutal Hannibal isn’t hard to get excited over. Neil Marshall (director of The Descent and some of Game of Thrones’ best episodes) directs the first instalment in the series and that alone makes it worth watching. Constantine should appeal to fans of Hellblazer and with any luck, non-fans too.
