6. Kingdom
Movies like The Fighter and Warrior have shown that you don’t need to be a boxing or mixed martial arts fan to root for a well-developed character as they face seemingly insurmountable odds, so hopefully new TV series Kingdom (previously titled Navy St.) will follow in their footsteps.
The family drama is set in the bloody world of MMA and stars Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) as Alvey Kulina, a legend in the sport who now owns is own gym and is hoping to develop and train the next generation of fighters. Of course, he has a lot more than that to deal with, including a drug addicted ex-wife and his sons, both of whom are also fighters. It’s always great seeing Grillo in a lead role, but this TV show will air on a fairly obscure American network, so whether it finds an audience remains to be seen.
