1) Up: The Opening Sequence
Not only is this one of the most romantic movie sequences in the history of film, it’s also one of the most sad. We’ve been lucky enough to visit Pixar during our time at HeyUGuys and while we were there, we were shown this nine minute non-vocal sequence as it was critiqued by a Pixar animator. The only problem was when the lights came up, all the people in the room were crying!
It’s a simple montage of Carl Fredricksen growing up, falling in love with and living life with his partner Ellie and no matter how tough you are, that scene will have you both laughing and crying by the time it’s over but warm in the knowledge that Mr and Mrs Fredricksen truly loved one another from the first moment they met.
