The Wolverine is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The summer blockbuster sees Hugh Jackman reprising one of his best-known roles, and with less than three months to go before it hits the big screen, the anticipation is running on high.
We saw an epic first teaser trailer earlier in the year, which was more recently followed by a look at the CinemaCon footage that was screened at this year’s convention. And as if things couldn’t get any sweeter, we’ve now got an awesome new trailer for the blockbuster to share.
Based on the celebrated comic book arc, The Wolverine finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.
Jackman is joined by a brilliant supporting cast, starring alongside Hiroyuki Sanada, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto, Will Yun Lee, Hal Yamanouchi, Brian Tee, and Svetlana Khodchenkova.
James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma) is directing from a script co-written by Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) and Mark Bomback (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes). And Jackman himself is producing alongside Hutch Parker, John Palermo (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Drive), and Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men, Constantine).
Jackman is of course set to reprise his role as Logan / Wolverine once more next year, in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. And that means that we’ve got at least two more chances to see him bearing those adamantium claws in the near future.
The Wolverine is set to be released in 3D on 25th July here in the UK, with its US release date following a day later on July 26th. Be sure to commit the relevant date to memory, because this is guaranteed to be a must-see film of the year.
