The first weekend of this year’s LFF was in full swing this evening as thge BFI London Film Festival rolled out the red carpet for the Gala presentation of I Love Boosters, the riotous new absurdist crime comedy from writer-director Boots Riley. The film stars Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, LaKeith Stanfield, Will Poulter, Don Cheadle and Demi Moore; it was written and directed by Boots Riley. Plot:
Corvette is an aspiring fashion designer and the leader of The Velvet Gang, a crew of shoplifting “boosters” who target the boutiques of fashion entrepreneur Christie Smith. When Smith steals one of Corvette’s own designs, the gang is pushed to the next level in Boots Riley’s absurdist, anti-capitalist crime comedy.
