However, Spidey is back this year in a suit which looks like it was torn straight from the pages of the comic books and two villains in the form of Electro and the Green Goblin (not to mention some serious world building in preparation for the planned Venom and Sinister Six spin-offs).
This past Sunday, Sony Pictures released an almost four-minute long preview of the movie, and it featured a ton of new footage. If you missed that, you can find it by clicking here. We’ve gone through the trailer and picked out ten of the most noteworthy moments. Check them out below and then be sure to let us know your thoughts on them in the usual place!
10. Trademark Spidey Humour
Despite the fact that he constantly faces impossible odds and some truly awful “Parker Luck”, Spider-Man manages to keep himself going with the use of humour. When he dons the mask, the shy Peter Parker becomes a totally different person, although Marc Webb’s version of the iconic hero often seems just as witty and cocky outside of the suit.
That doesn’t sit well with some fans, but it’s too early to say whether or not Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci’s screenplay has changed him at all since the first movie. Either way, this latest trailer is bookended with two very humorous scenes between Peter and his Aunt May, a good sign that the humour many said was sorely lacking from Sam Raimi’s trilogy is alive and well in Sony’s latest take on the Spider-Man franchise.
