When we last saw Sam in Game of Thrones, he was taking Gilly and her baby from The Wall for the safety of Oldtown. With the HBO series now overtaking George R.R. Martin’s novels, what’s to come in season six remains a mystery, but we’re clearly going to be meeting Sam’s family as three actors have now been added to play his father, mother, and sister.

James Faulkner will play Randyll Tarly, Sam’s father, Samantha Spiro is playing Melessa Tarly, Sam’s mother, and Rebecca Benson has been cast as Sam’s sister Talla Tarly. This trio joins the recently announced Freddie Stroma, who will star as Sam’s brother Dickon Tarly.

Faulkner recently appeared in Downton Abbey, Spiro will soon be seen in BBC Two’s London Spy, and Benson has earned rave reviews for starring in a stage production of Let the Right One In. We’ve heard a lot about Sam’s family over the years (particularly his stern father), so it’s going to be a lot of fun to see how they factor into Game of Thrones moving forwards!

The cast of Game of Thrones has been growing a lot lately, with Richard E. Grant and Essie Davis also added in surprising roles recently. You can find details on that by clicking here.
