With his first feature behind the camera about to roll into theatres, THR are reporting that the multi-hyphenate has already set his sights on a further two projects.
First up is set to be action/thriller, No Man’s Land. The script comes from David Klass (Kiss the Girls) and Trey Ellis (Good Fences), and takes place over one night, described as having echoes of Walter Hill’s cult classic, The Warriors.
The story revolves around,
“a man who steals a powerful criminal’s diamond that soon proves to be far more valuable than initially thought. With the help of a dancer, he attempts to stay alive and cash in on the jewel.”
Next up, RZA has signed on to direct Genghis Khan, the long-gestating epic biopic penned by John Milius (Apocalypse Now).
“Khan, one of the great military figures in world history, is the ruler who united the Mongol tribes and conquered great parts of Asia and Eastern Europe in the early 13th century. The story will be told from the point of view of Khan’s son and grandson.”
Andre Morgan and Peter Lam (The Warlords) will be serving as producers, with Milius executive producing, aiming to shoot the film in China next year.
No Man’s Land is expected to be the first of the two projects to go before cameras, and we’re looking forward to seeing who will be taking the leading roles. RZA has taken a leaf out of Ben Affleck’s book and directed himself in The Man with the Iron Fists, and if he does the same again here, it will be interesting to see who’ll star opposite as the (presumably) female dancer, given the high-profile casting in his debut.
RZA will next be seen in The Man with the Iron Fists, which arrives in the US this Friday, 2nd November, before heading to the UK on 7th December. He’ll then be back on the big screen as Blind Master in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which is slated for a 27th March, 2013 release in the UK, following two days later in the US on 29th March. With any luck, we’ll have some more news to bring you on the No Man’s Land / Genghis Khan fronts soon.
