Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters will be giving us a dark take on the classic fairytale, with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton starring as adult versions of the storybook children.

We caught the first trailer for the film last month, and now a new red-band trailer has landed over at IGN, giving us another look at what should be a fun and bloody take on the original tale.

“15 years after their traumatic gingerbread-house incident, siblings Hansel and Gretel have become a formidable team of bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world.”

Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola is making his English language debut at the helm, co-writing the script with Dante Harper (the upcoming All You Need Is Kill), with Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare, Thomas Mann, and Zoe Bell completing the cast.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters will be released in 3D on 25th January, 2013 in the US, and will be hitting the UK a little later on 15th March. It looks like Renner and Arterton will be bringing the action in spades, and it should be a great blockbuster for the New Year. For now, here’s the new red-band trailer – and naturally, it’s not work-appropriate viewing. Enjoy.
