Patrick Wilson

Star Wars casting new yesterday, Marvel today! Not a bad way to end the month, eh? It has tonight been revealed that Watchmen and The Conjuring star Patrick Wilson is in talks to join the cast of Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man, meaning he will star alongside the already announced Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas.

End of Watch’s Michael Pena is still in discussions for what is said to be a major role, while the studio continue to court Lost’s Evangeline Lilly for presumably the role of The Wasp. However, after shooting two Hobbit movies back to back, the actress is said to be on the fence about committing to a contract which would include a multi-picture deal.

Unfortunately, there’s currently no word on who Wilson would be playing, but The Wrap claim that, “Marvel has been searching for another charismatic leading man, a description that fits Wilson.”

That really leaves us with two obvious options: the lead villain of Ant-Man or possibly a young Hank Pym. While Douglas will play the older version of the character, it has already been revealed that we’ll see the original Ant-Man in flashbacks to the 1960s, meaning they’ll likely need to find a younger star for those scenes.

Ant-Man is set to be released on July 31st, 2015. Who would you like to see Wilson play?
