Dominic West has entered into negotiations to take on the role of Prince Charles in the final fifth and sixth seasons of ‘The Crown’ at Netflix.

West would be playing Prince Charles at a time when it was revealed that he was having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles while married to Princess Diana. Parker Bowles is now Charles’ second wife.

West would take over the role from Josh O’Connor and would join Jonathan Pryce, who takes over the role of Prince Philip from the current incumbent Tobia Menzies, Matt Smith played the role in the first two seasons.

Imelda Staunton has already been confirmed to take over the role as Queen Elizabeth II from Olivia Colman in the fifth and final series whilst Lesley Manville will take over the role of Princess Margaret from Helena Bonham Carter.

Set in the 1990s and 2000s, seasons 5 and 6 will deal with the breakdown of three of her children’s marriages, a fire at Windsor Castle, and the deaths of Princess Margaret, the Queen Mother and the Princess of Wales.

Filming is due to commence mid-2021, with the fifth season set for a premiere in 2022.

Season 4 will premiere on Netflix November 15th.
