1. The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan, Captain America: The Winter Soldier)
When Bucky fell to his apparent death in Captain America: The First Avenger, fans weren’t upset. Why? Well, it’s because it meant that the door was wide open for Marvel to bring Sebastian Stan back as The Winter Soldier further down the line (in the Ultimate Universe, Bucky survives the war and reunites with Steve Rogers in the present day as an old man).
Based on the critically acclaimed comic book arc from Ed Brubaker, Steve Epting and Michael Lark, the story sees Bucky’s corpse recovered by the Russians, revived and put into stasis. He’s only woken up for a number of missions for the Soviets over the years and has no memory of his past life. How much of this will make it into the movie is unclear, but it’s going to be great to see…
