The-Amazing-Spider-Man-2-Poster-sliceAfter seeing Spidey and Electro heading up two new posters for Marc Webb’s highly anticipated The Amazing Spider-Man 2 earlier, Sony has launched a third poster to follow that pits the two characters together.

The stand-off between these two is all but guaranteed to be epic, quite possibly leading to a showdown in Times Square, and you’d better believe that this is an absolute must-see of the year, let alone the summer blockbuster season.

The first trailer that surfaced at the start of last month promised all-out action, with the international trailer that followed adding a little comedy into the mix, so things are definitely looking good for the franchise.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone reprise their leading roles for the sequel, with Webb assembling another excellent ensemble, this time led by Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Chris Cooper, Brian Haley, Colm Feore, and B.J. Novak.

Webb is directing from a script penned by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Transformers) and Jeff Pinkner (Lost, Fringe), based on an original draft by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man).

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 18th April in the UK, with its US release date set for the genre’s favourite weekend, May 2nd.
