As we are still recovering from how great Guardians of The Galaxy turned out be it seems James Gunn may have upped the proverbial ante in the genre. There is, however, a certain degree of irony as this intergalactic gang of superhero misfits are, in fact, led by a man, Peter Quill, who seemingly possess no mystical powers beyond his wit and cunning.

In what is considered by many to be Marvel’s best film to date, we take a look at some of the great superheroes who, like Quill, are simply mere mortals. But great power can come at a price as we also look at those superheroes who aren’t that great and didn’t quite take off.

We take a look at six not-so-super superheroes. Buckle in.

Colonel Stars and Stripes

kick-ass-2

From the deep recesses of the brilliant mind of Mark Millar, the Kick-Ass series of graphic novels have successfully made the transition into film. Although Kick-Ass 2 may not have been as well received as its predecessor, it did introduce Colonel Stars & Stripes in the unlikely but brilliant form of Jim Carrey.

No super powers makes no difference, as this self-proclaimed vigilante is every bit has heroic as Kick-Ass himself.

With a trusty baseball bat and loyal K-9 companion, trained to target a specific part of the male anatomy, Jim Carrey as the Colonel is one of the very few redeeming points in the film.
