With a devastating super-bark not to mention laser vision, Bolt is indeed a superhero dog but all within the alternate reality of a TV show where he saves his owner, Penny, from danger each and every week.
This goes beyond the K-9 equivalent to method acting and it is The Truman Show of animation in many ways. It is an interesting take on the superhero genre, even satirical in places as Bolt struggles to come to terms with the fact he is a regular dog with no unearthly powers.
It is a reality check of all mighty proportions, one that only a certain space ranger can identify with.
