Two years ago, Pitch Perfect broke out as a sleeper hit of 2012, taking over $100m. at the box office and breaking all kinds of records with its soundtrack album, selling over a million copies in the US alone. In just a matter of months, the Bellas will be back on the big screen in Pitch Perfect 2 with a new roster, a new playlist, and I can’t wait to see it happen.
Anna Kendrick and co. lit up the screen in the original, and with a handful of new cast members joining them for the sequel, led by Hailee Steinfeld, things are sure to be even better this time around, especially when you factor in the fact that Elizabeth Banks, who produced and had a small starring role in the original, has chosen to make her feature directorial debut with the second film.
After teasing us with the first poster yesterday, Universal has launched the first trailer today, and it bodes very well for what’s to come.
Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Kelley Jakle, Hailee Steinfeld, Chrissie Fit, and Adam DeVine lead another great cast alongside Kendrick for the second instalment.
Banks is at the helm with a script by Kay Cannon, who returns having previously adapted the non-fiction book by Mickey Rapin.
Pitch Perfect 2 will hit cinemas in the US and UK on May 15th.
