MUBI has released the official trailer for ‘A Long Winter,’ the highly anticipated new feature film from acclaimed filmmaker Andrew Haigh (All of Us Strangers, 45 Years), starring Fred Hechinger, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Caitríona Balfe, Kit Connor, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Martin Freeman.
Set against the unforgiving landscape of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains in 1951, ‘A Long Winter’ follows a young man whose world is turned upside down when his mother disappears into the wilderness. As the harsh winter closes in, he must navigate a complicated relationship with his father while searching for answers in a close-knit mountain community facing the elements together.
Hechinger leads the cast as Mike, whose search for his missing mother becomes an unexpected journey of self-discovery, belonging and resilience. As the community rallies together to face the brutal winter, Mike discovers the quiet strength needed to carry on in the face of uncertainty.
Following its world premiere at the 2026 Telluride Film Festival, ‘A Long Winter’ has been selected for the 70th BFI London Film Festival, where it will receive its UK premiere on 14 October.
