The new trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is here, and it’s packed full of awesome new action sequences and some very interesting reveals about the direction the sequel will be taking. Believe it or not, this movie is beginning to look like a lot of fun!
Despite being a little light on Shredder and Krang, we do get to see the origin stories of fan-favourite bad guys Bepop and Rocksteady, a duo who are being played by Gary Anthony Williams (Malcolm in the Middle) and former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus. There’s also Casey Jones’ first appearance and a tease about the Turtles’ (human?) future.
Despite receiving a mixed response from critics, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles grossed just shy of $500 million worldwide, so a sequel coming so soon is hardly a surprise. However, adding so many fan-favourite characters and hopefully an acknowledgement of what didn’t work in the first instalment will hopefully ensure this follow-up fares a little better this time!
Dave Green (Earth to Echo) is directing the sequel, taking over from Jonathan Liebesman, while Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Johnny Knoxville, and Jeremy Howard will reprise the roles of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Megan Fox, Will Arnet, and Stephen Amell also star.
