Yesterday evening the black carpet was unfurled on the stones of Leicester Square, ushering in a dark and mysterious film for its UK premiere. Following in the stumbling footsteps of his psychological dystopias Black Swan and The Fountain, director Darren Aronofsky’s latest film was written in five days following a disturbing dream. The result is one of the best films of the year. Last night we were out on the tiles to speak to Aronofsky and two of his leading actors.
Jennifer Lawrence and Domhnall Gleeson were on hand to talk about the privilege of working with the director, and told us what their first reactions were to the idea and the script. Producer Scott Franklin, one of Aronofsky’s closest creative partners fleshed out the process of externalising this profound gift from the gods the director received. He also teases us with a number of projects they two of them are working on.
Directed by Darren Aronosky, mother! features Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall Gleeson and Kristen Wiig.
Colin Hart and Scott Davis were on the carpet to catch the interviews, here’s how they got on.
Mother! has a release date of September 15th
