These exclusive interviews from last night’s world premiere  of Borg/McEnroe form our latest dispatch from the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.

The film is directed Janus Metz Pedersen and stars Shia LeBeouf, Stellan Skarsgard and Sverrir Gudnason. Its retelling of the classic on-court rivalry between the two top male tennis players of their time makes for a compelling watch, with LaBeouf and Gudnason both embodying the fire and ice personalities which clashed so spectacularly.

Borg/McEnroe Movie Synopsis

In 1980, Wimbledon’s spotlight lay heavily on the final between Björn Borg (Sverrir Gudnason) and John McEnroe (Shia LeBeouf). Björn Borg, the Swedish number 1, gentleman, and control freak was pitted against the eccentric newcomer from New York. Dubbed the Nordic coolness against the US hot-head, but these two giants of the sport are much closer than one might believe. An unforgettable final is stored in the minds of the spectators. Borg/McEnroe is released in Norway, Sweden and the UK in September and Germany in October.
