To celebrate the release of Dune: Part Two, which opens in UK and US cinemas this week, we had the pleasure of chatting with one of the film’s incredible ensemble, and original Goonies, Josh Brolin, to find out all about the extraordinary second part of sci-fi epic.

“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Brolin, who returns as Gurney Halleck in the second film, talks to us about what to expect from the new film, why he loves working with Denis Villeneuve, and why he was the only director who could bring Dune to the screen in the right way, his reunion with Javier Bardem and their friendship and much more. Of course, being a site named after The Goonies, we couldn’t let Brandon “Brand” Walsh escape without a little chat about the film, which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year, who from the Dune cast would make for a good Goonie and much more in-between.
