The final trailer for the new King Kong film, Kong Skull Island, has arrived. If you were in any doubts as to the seismic intent of Jordan Vogt-Roberts film, this new tease clears things up nicely. This is a war movie, and one side is a huge, properly massive, monster.

Part of the ever-expanding shared universe along with Godzilla, whose next outing (entitled Kong of ((the)) Monsters) has been gathering a fine cast of late, as well as picking up a great director in Michael Dougherty. We know that Kong and Godzilla are destined to face off against one another in a few years time. Warners and Legendary will keep a close eye on box office returns for Skull Island, hopeful that audiences flock.

This new trailer is very different from the first,  and has a little more in common with the excellent monster-focused Japanese version.  If you’ve not been keeping up with the marketing then you’ve missed some fine work. There was an impressive IMAX poster inspired by the Apocalypse Now poster so check that one out. As well as this beauty below…

Here’s what the director tweeted out just after the new trailer went live.

Those traveling to the wilds of Skull Island include everyone’s favourite tall Englishman Tom Hiddleston, aviatory-snake-handler Samuel L. Jackson, future Captain Marvel Brie Larson, global treasure John Goodman, and the majestic beard of John C. Reilly. The film is hurriedly approaching its release date of March 10th, 2017. Rumours abound of a very important, franchise-important, post credits sting as well, so make sure you stay until the end of the credits.

Here’s your splendid new trailer.
