Paramount+ has released the first look images for ‘THE DAY,’ an edge-of-your-seat heist thriller starring Minnie Driver (Emily in Paris, Runaway), Luca Pasqualino (Rivals, The Musketeers) and Louisa Harland (Renegade Nell, Derry Girls).
Based on the 2018 Belgian series ‘De Dag,’ the eight-part thriller unfolds over a single, gripping day as a bank robbery spirals into a terrifying hostage situation, leaving police racing against time to prevent a deadly outcome.
When police stumble across a bank robbery in progress, the criminals barricade themselves inside the bank, triggering a tense siege. At the centre of the police response is hostage negotiator Sylvia “Vox” Voxley, played by Driver, who must navigate mounting pressure and increasingly dangerous circumstances as she fights to save the hostages.

However, ‘THE DAY’ has a unique storytelling twist. The series initially follows events from the police perspective before rewinding to take viewers inside the bank, revisiting the same crisis through the eyes of the robbers and their hostages.
With each episode shifting between the police operation outside and the unfolding drama inside the bank, the series continually reframes what audiences think they know. Every change in perspective reveals new details, deepens the mystery and challenges the truth behind the unfolding events, building towards an explosive finale where the pieces finally fall into place.
‘THE DAY’ is written by Ben Harris and Jesse O’Mahoney and is based on ‘De Dag,’ the Belgian series created by Jonas Geirnaert and Julie Mahieu.
The eight-part thriller will premiere on Paramount+. A release date has yet to be announced.
