We miss the enthusiastic voiceover so common with today’s modern trailers. So many films attempt to charm audiences into the cinemas, or offer a knowing tone intent on creating a sense of artificial excitement. Then you have this new trailer for Warner Bros.’ Kong: Skull Island. It is the very model of vocal enthusiasm, giving us a far less chummy trailer we saw initially. Kong Skull Island looks really, really dangerous.

Warner Bros. and Legendary are building a new cinematic universe with a showdown between this new iteration of King Kong and Godzilla in our future. Rebooted in 2014 by Rogue One director Gareth Edwards Godzilla will next be seen in King of Monsters , which will be directed by Trick R Treat’s Michael Dougherty.
KONG: SKULL ISLANDThe naming of these two films is no coincidence; both fighting to be the real king of the monsters it seems we’ll have an actual battle royale when God’Z’ and Double K hit it off in 2020. Back to 2017 however, and this new trailer has many of the beats (and beasts) we’ve seen before, though as stated with far less comic relief (barely any John C. Reillybeard in this one) and the dark, foreboding tone matches the impressive posters which were released by the studio recently.

The cast of Kong: Skull Island includes Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, and John C. Reilly, and it’s currently set to be released on March 10th, 2017. Here’s your new trailer.
