Prison Break Season One was, in my opinion one of the best series on TV. It was original, engaging and had you gripped at the end of every episode desperate to know more. The only problem with the entire premise of the TV show was that once out of Prison, where do the main characters of Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller) and his brother Lincoln Scofield (Dominic Purcell) go from there. The shows focus on Michael who uses his genius to get sent to the same prison as his brother in an attempt to help him escape since he was there for a crime he did no commit.

The second season saw the eight convicts who escaped Fox River State Penitentiary becomes known as the ‘Fox River Eight’. We followed them on the run and as each went their separate ways and we learnt more about their back stories as they sought solace. Again this was a pretty decent follow-up to the original season which struggled with the title of ‘Prison Break’ to do just that.

The writers were forced to get clever however as audiences wanted to see more of the original premise of the show so we end up seeing the two Scofield brothers eventually ending up in a prison in Panama for season 3 and again we see them navigate the gangs and politics in prison as well as the military run facility to end up once again escaping incarceration. It was then onto season 4 which personally i gave up on half way through because it was so convoluted and sadly didn’t live up to the preceding seasons.

With all that said, Fox have now released the first trailer for Season 5 which, as crazy as it sounds sees Michael Scofield who died at the end of Season 4 back from the dead! Now in yet another prison in Yemen, Scofield is yet again behind bars and after managing to get a message out to his family back in the United States, it’s up to Lincoln and Fernando Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) to get him out of there!

Earlier in the year Fox US released this behind the scenes look at Prison Break Season 5 showing us a little of what we might be able to expect from the show and how things have changed for the cast.

Behind the Scenes of Prison Break Season 5

As silly as this all sounds, with a seven year gap since season 4, it’s nice to see a series that I loved so much back on TV. Hopefully those seven years have led to a decent script and take us back to the engaging series that season one really was.

Many of the main characters from the original series are back on top of those mentioned above including Sarah Wayne Callies as Michael’s wife Sarah and Robert Knepper as the evil Theodore “T-Bag” Bagwell.

Check out the new trailer below (and you can see the previous Comic Con version here) and let us know if you’re glad to see Prison Break back on TV in the comments below. The show is set to hit Fox in the US on 4th April but no UK aire date as yet.
