Rising comedian Jason Sudeikis leads this upcoming comedy, A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, and Yahoo Movies have the film’s first trailer.

Sudeikis stars as a 30-year-old whose parents decide to sell the family vacation home, and he and his friends decide to have one final celebration there at the end of the summer, by having an orgy.

To me, the premise sounds like it’s going to be pandering too much to a really commercial audience, and the trailer doesn’t do much to convince me otherwise. But having said that, it did get pretty good reviews when it premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, so maybe the trailer doesn’t give it enough credit. I don’t think there’s anything terribly wrong with the trailer, I just think a lot of the jokes fall a bit flat. Also, on a minor note, I’m fairly sure I’ve never heard anyone use the phrase, ‘A good old fashioned orgy.’

Sudeikis has been getting more popular recently after starring in Hall Pass earlier this year and Horrible Bosses, which has just come out here in the UK, and he has been good in what I’ve seen him in so far. But despite the trailer trying to convince you otherwise with a long list of the cast’s names, Sudeikis is the only well known actor in the film, with perhaps the exceptions of Leslie Bibb and Lindsay Sloane, who played one of Melissa Joan Hart’s best friends back in the day on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.

In spite of all this, R-rated comedies like this do tend to do quite well at the box office, and usually make good on their budget and then some. They may not be the most brilliant of films, but they can be good fun to watch. Whilst I’m not really convinced by this first trailer, which only really has one Goonies-related highlight (we do enjoy a good bit of Goonies here at HeyUGuys), maybe the film itself has more to offer than its trailer shows. Its reviews point to a pretty strong dialogue as a source of the comedy, and we don’t get a lot of speech in this first trailer, so it could well have more going for it if it does. As of yet, there’s no UK release date, so we may have to wait until its DVD/Blu-Ray release to find out. Without further ado, here’s the trailer.
