Starring Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight) and Viola Davis (The Help) in the leads, Won’t Back Down is promising to be a strong dramatic film this year, and I can’t help but think Fox will be pushing for an awards campaign for Gyllenhaal, Davis, or both for Best Actress come Oscar season.

The first trailer surfaced last month and got my spine a-tingling, and now the film’s official site has debuted the beautiful first poster, four new clips, and ten images from the film.

“Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis play two determined mothers, one a teacher, who will stop at nothing to transform their children’s failing inner city school. Facing a powerful and entrenched bureaucracy, they risk everything to make a difference in the education and future of their children.”

Holly Hunter, Oscar Isaac, Rosie Perez, and Ving Rhames co-star, with Daniel Barnz (Beastly) directing from a script he co-wrote with Brin Hill.

Won’t Back Down will be released in the US on 28th September, which could put in prime position for an awards campaign. As yet, still no word on when we can expect a UK release, but hopefully we’ll be getting it at the same time. Whilst we wait, the four new clips, followed by the first poster and the ten new images, all of which you can click to enlarge.
