When we last saw Mr. Freeze in live-action, he was being played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the hilariously and heartbreakingly awful Batman and Robin. Well, House of Cards star Nathan Darrow is looking to offer up a very different take on the villain in Gotham, and the first official image of him suited up (with his freeze ray) has been released by Fox today.

Asked about Gotham’s version of the Batman villain differs to past version, the actor would only say: “OK, referencing my talking points verbatim… (Laughs) I will tell you we’re going to see Mr. Freeze do some things we have never seen him do.” Sounds pretty intriguing, eh?

Now, you might think that fans would be happy to see a villain as iconic as Mr. Freeze introduced in Gotham, but that isn’t the case for the most part. That’s down to the series continuing to introduce characters and their villainous personas years before Bruce Wayne becomes Batman, something which makes them much older than the Caped Crusader.

That aside though, and it could of course be argued that these bad guys all making their presence felt in the city will be what inspires Bruce to become a vigilante. That’s a fair point, but if they create The Joker before the youngster dons the cape and cowl, expect riots!

Regardless, this first look at Mr. Freeze in season two of Gotham is pretty cool (pun most definitely intended), and if you live in the US, you’ll be able to see him in action tonight.
