The midseason finale of The Walking Dead airs tonight on Fox in the UK, so you’ve no doubt spent most of today trying to avoid spoilers. Don’t fret though, as the clip below contains none! Instead, it simply picks up with Daryl, Abraham, and Sasha as they make their way back to Alexandria. However, they’re met by some unexpected resistance on the way!
These men belong to Negan, the iconic comic book villain who will be played by Watchmen star Jeffrey Dean Morgan (more details on that casting can be found by clicking here).
This two-minute prequel scene from The Walking Dead’s return next February – yes, we really have to wait that long – establishes him as a new threat, and appears to reveal that this trio of fan-favourite characters are going to be taken by his men. If that’s the case, we can look forward to Negan’s introduction being handled very differently to the comics.
Either way, he’s not expected to make his presence felt in The Walking Dead until the season six finale, but anticipation is at an all-time high. After all, while the series has done an incredible job of making The Herd the main threat so far this year, it’s been a while since The Walking Dead had a big bad, and Negan makes The Governer look like a real softie…
