The obligatory press tour in the final few weeks before a film’s release rarely provides that golden marketing moment which generates new levels of buzz and anticipation.

There are, however, a few exceptions to this where the marketing campaign truly goes above and beyond. The recent release of Creed is a prime example with a tube station stunt encouraging commuters to take the stairs.

Here we take a brief look at some of the most creative and downright bizarre marketing stunts, all of which with varying degrees of level of success.

The Child’s Play franchise spawned four sequels and cultivated quite a following and as inevitable the series perhaps carried on longer than it should have. Yes, Bride of Chucky we are talking about you.

Wrestling and the film industry has always shared a bizarre and interesting relationship over the years. The appearance of Chucky on WCW Monday Nitro in 1998 cannot be forgotten especially when the promo for Bride of Chucky included trash-talking Rick Steiner.

There is targeting your key audience and then there is this – an appearance of a fictional character to promote its film in a meta ‘Wes Craven’s New Nightmare’ sort of way. The reaction of the crowd alone really does reflect the absurdity of the segment.
