Granted, Dawn of the Dinosaurs didn’t have The Amazing Spider-Man the week before and The Dark Knight Rises the week after, so I don’t think a similar performance is necessarily expected, but all three films to date have done very well for themselves, and this latest film has been performing very well in international markets in its early release abroad.
Ahead of its release this weekend comes a new batch of posters and banners for your viewing pleasure.
“Scrat’s nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn, which he’s been after since the dawn of time, has world-changing consequences – a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny, Diego and Sid. In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny, and the herd encounters a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.”
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaur’s Michael Thurmeier is back behind the camera, co-directing with Steve Martino, and the voice cast consists of the usual great array of actors, heading up by Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Chris Wedge, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Peter Dinklage, Aziz Ansari, Nick Frost, and Alan Tudyk.
The film has already been released in a number of international markets (excluding the US, and largely excluding the UK, with the exception of early preview screenings), and has taken just shy of $200m. already, so it’s got off to a healthy start, topping box offices across the world.
The Simpsons 3D short, The Longest Daycare, will also be attached to this latest instalment, in case you need any more persuading.
Ice Age: Continental Drift will be released in 3D in the UK and US this Friday, 13th July, and looks to be the safest bet for the youngsters if they’ve already seen / aren’t old enough to enjoy The Amazing Spider-Man. (And if you’re looking for a fun, animated comedy yourself.) As usual with these new posters and banners, you can click to enlarge.
