Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel – for those unaware, the new Superman film – is naturally already one of the most highly anticipated blockbusters of 2013.

Due out next summer, things have been fairly quiet on the Man of Steel front, with the only real official things we’ve seen coming in the form of our first look at Henry Cavill in his suit last summer, and the awesome first banner for the film back in May.

And now, ahead of Comic-Con later this week, comes an Augmented Reality banner – so if you’ve got yourself an iPhone/Pad, or another kind of compatible smart phone, then scan the QR code and enjoy, courtesy of Gravity Jack / Man of Steel on Facebook.

“Kicking off the week of San Diego Comic-Con and ‘Man of Steel’ panel with some cool technology, from Gravity Jack and the Man of Steel FB Fan Page! Did you see our Cover Art?! Scan the code on the Cover Art using the FREE browsAR app from the Apple App Store or Google Play (for Android users.) Experience some of the coolest, most engaging technology available in the world! Want a a QAR Code like ours?

It’s called augmented reality, and it’s brought to us by Gravity Jack! (Like their page!) Interested? Gravity Jack has given fans of AR everywhere the ability to explore the world of AR by creating their own augmented reality for free.

Augmented Reality (AR) is the use of a device (like your smartphone or tablet) to view the world, but in a completely awesome way. When you view the real world through AR, it can completely change what you see, or just add digital information (like movies, photos, even your Facebook profile), in 3D to what you’re already seeing. Think movies, social media, music, photos, games…anything, anywhere! The possibilities are endless, and Gravity Jack is capable of providing them all.”

The cast is naturally brilliant, with Cavill supported by Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Shannon as General Zod – definitely so far, so good.

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”

Man of Steel will be hitting the big screen next summer on 14th June, 2013. Here’s to hoping that we’ll get a new tease from the film when it heads to Comic-Con. For now, the new Augmented Reality banner. As usual, you can click to enlarge.
