Superman’s long-awaited return to the big screen is sure to set the box office alight when it’s released next summer, with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel already being of the most highly-anticipated films of 2013.

We got our brilliant first look at Henry Cavill as the titular man of steel last summer, and have seen a handful of set photos since. But now comes the film’s very first and very awesome banner to add some fire to what will be a two-year-long promotional campaign.

Snyder and his producers – including Christopher Nolan – have assembled a fantastic cast, with Amy Adams co-starring as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and Russell Crowe as Jor-El.

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”

Snyder is directing from a script by David S. Goyer (Batman Begins), with the story coming from both Goyer and Christopher Nolan himself.

Man of Steel will be arriving in US theatres on 14th June, 2013, and though no UK date has been scheduled yet, it’s a safe bet that we’ll be getting it around then too, if not on the very same day. It is sure to be immense, and here’s the brilliant first banner to get your anticipation levels kick-started to high in case they weren’t already. Simple, but so effective. Anybody else immensely excited already?
