With the more epic of the two upcoming Snow White films, Universal have been doing a brilliant job of advertising Snow White and the Huntsman in recent months, and we’ve already seen plenty of very promising things from the film, ranging from posters to images to trailers.
Next Monday will see the release of the new US trailer for the summer blockbuster, and as is increasingly the custom, we now have a teaser for the new trailer to share with you.
“In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders.”
Rupert Sanders is making his directorial debut, and has assembled a fantastic cast, headed up Kristen Stewart in the Joan of Arc-esque female lead, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, and Sam Claflin, supported by the likes of Nick Frost, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Lily Cole, and Bob Hoskins.
Hossein Amini (Drive) has co-written the script with Evan Daugherty, who makes his feature debut.
If we take June to be the first month of summer, then this will be the first blockbuster of the season, released opposite Ridley Scott’s Prometheus here in the UK (which comes out a week later in the US), and it will be interesting to see what sort of entrance it makes at the box office. With a summer that includes The Amazing Spider-Man, The Dark Knight Rises, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Ice Age: Continental Drift, Pixar’s Brave, The Bourne Legacy, Total Recall, and The Expendables 2, we should be in for a healthy dose of blockbusters right from the word go.
Snow White and the Huntsman will be released in the UK and US on 1st June, and be sure to come back on Monday when the new trailer for the film hits.
