Hail Caesar

The cast of Joel and Ethan Coen’s next movie continues to get more and more impressive, with Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes all set to join George Clooney and Josh Brolin in Hail, Caesar.

The Coen Brothers’ latest big screen caper is described as being set in the 1950s and focusing on a “fixer” who worked for the studios to protect the stars of the day (think Ray Donovan).

The lead character will be Eddie Mannix, a role which has been compared to the real-life Fred Otash, a private investigator who worked for Confidential magazine and was the muckraker of the time using wiretaps to spy on movie stars and gather dirt. Otash was a former lifeguard who became a cop, lost his job as a cop and became a private eye who wiretapped.

Channing Tatum’s (22 Jump Street) role is apparently as a Gene Kelly-type star, while Ralph Fiennes (Skyfall) will play Laurence Lorenz, a studio director, and Tilda Swinton (Snowpiercer) is a powerful Hollywood gossip columnist. It’s an impressive cast, and the ensemble comedy will likely add more stars in the coming weeks as the Coen’s continue to build what sounds like another Oscar contender.

Universal Pictures recently announced that they will distribute the next movie from the Coen Brothers, making it the eighth collaboration between the trio.

The Coen Brothers are sure to bring their unique mixture of quirky humour and crime drama to this movie, and we’ll keep you updated on how it progresses from here!
