There doesn’t seem to have been an awful lot of buzz surrounding this movie as of yet, with many fans focusing on the appearance of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and rumours that they will be aliens.
However, it’s easy to imagine this being one of August’s biggest movies, but it should be interesting to see whether audiences who are less familiar with the characters embrace these new versions.
Directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles) and produced by Michael Bay (Transformers), the movie uses motion capture to bring Raphael (Alan Ritchson), Michelangelo (Noel Fisher), Donatello (Jeremy Howard) and Leonardo (Pete Ploszek/Johnny Knoxville) to life, while Megan Fox will play April O’Neil and William Fichtner will star as the villainous Shredder.
The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.
Starring Megan Fox, Pete Ploszek, Johnny Knoxville, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Alan Ritchson, Danny Woodburn, Tony Shalhoub, William Fichtner, Will Arnett, and Whoopi Goldberg, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released on August 8th, 2014. Here’s the new trailer, and the final poster below.
