With the first glimpse of Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman‘ dropping at the weekend, an additional name in Barry Keoghan has been added to the cast.

Previously unknown, it would appear that Keoghan stars in the film as Commissioner James Gordon’s first partner, Stanley Merkel.

Those eagle-eyed audiences also spotted what they thought was Colin Farrell, heavily disguised in prosthetic make-up as The Penguin. It has since been confirmed this is correct. The below image is, in fact, Farrell as the criminal character.

Robert Pattinson will play the role of a young Bruce Wayne/Batman in the “stand-alone, noir” project. Reeves has previously said of the project that the story is “told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films.”

Andy Serkis will play the role of Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Jeffrey Wright will play Commissioner Gordon while Paul Dano will play The Riddler and Zoe Kravtiz will play Seline Kyle/Catwomen.

Directed by Matt Reeves who also co-wrote the script alongside Peter Craig.

Filming on the project will resume in the UK in September.
