There have been four Terminator movies (two which are widely considered excellent, and two which aren’t) as well as one TV show, and despite the gap between each of their respective releases, it’s still one of the world’s most beloved and well recognised franchises. However, that doesn’t exactly mean it hasn’t been a bumpy road…

 

We’ve chosen five of our favourite and least favourite moments from the Terminator franchise. Over the course of the big and small screen adventures of the Terminators and Connors family, there have been a lot of good and bad occurrences, and narrowing it down to just five of each was no easy feat.

5. It Begins

Terminator Scrawl

By today’s standards, The Terminator’s opening scrawl is pretty basic. However, it works extremely well, and negated the need for any sort of long drawn out opening which would have set the stage no more effectively than this did in all honesty.

It was a combination of things which made this work in all honesty; the typeface and simple explanation of what had led to the haunting image of the crushed skulls and metallic limbs for example. As a result, this is one of sci-fi’s most compelling and effective openings, and it set the stage for two amazing movies.

It’s just a shame that the third and fourth instalments failed to live up to either of them. As a result, a lot rests on this year’s Terminator: Genisys to set the series back on the right path…
