Hitting DVD on 29th August, the first season of Netflix exclusive series Narcos recounts the gripping and horrifying real-life battle between infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar and the DEA agents who relocated to Colombia to try and bring him down. Featuring a standout performance from Wagner Moura as Escobar and described as “devastatingly addictive” by The Daily Telegraph, it’s certainly essential viewing that lives up to its billing – and it’s not the only TV show to have addictively consumed our lives.
We thought it would be great to give you a choice selection of some recent classics and golden oldies that we simply love……

Breaking Bad
Let’s face it, the phrase ‘binge-watch’ was practically invented for AMC’s powerhouse drama sensation. Created by former X-Files regular Vince Gilligan, it catapulted Bryan Cranston from Malcolm in the Middle comedy star to full-blown A-lister, and deservedly so. Beautifully tracing the rise and fall of chemistry-teacher-turned-crystal-meth-dealer Walter White (Cranston) over the course of five seasons, it’s the rare TV series that never once misses a beat, expertly skipping from dark comedy to violent horror whilst presenting a host of brilliantly sketched supporting characters, chief among which is White’s former-student-turned-protege Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). Quite simply, it’s essential TV.
